A Journey of Compassion: The History of MedAIM Welfare Society
The story of MedAIM Welfare Society is one of vision, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to health and well-being in Champhai. Our journey began in 2007 when the Med Aim Society from Germany identified a pressing need for improved health awareness and robust medical facilities in the region. This pivotal insight led to the establishment of the Med Aim Adventist Welfare Society in Champhai. Immediate efforts focused on renovating the hospital building in Zotlang to prepare for its vital role.
By 2008, the search for dedicated medical professionals was underway, with German representatives visiting to assess progress. The year 2009 marked a significant milestone as essential facilities and equipment were procured, and staff recruitment began. On November 1, 2009, a date we proudly commemorate, Med Aim Adventist Hospital officially opened its doors in Zotlang. We secured official recognition from the Government with registration number A. 17014/10/04-HFW and completed our society registration under Mizoram Firms & Societies, receiving MSR-141 on 18.01.2008.
The hospital quickly became a vital community asset, operating smoothly until a temporary eight-month closure in 2013 due to a shortage of doctors. However, our commitment never wavered. In 2014, with the appointment of a new, dedicated doctor, the hospital resumed its operations seamlessly.
A significant transformation occurred in 2017 to align with evolving government initiatives. The organization was officially renamed MedAIM Welfare Society, and our hospital became MedAIM Hospital, reflecting our continued growth and adaptability.
Anticipating greater patient convenience, a long-planned relocation culminated in 2019 when MedAIM Hospital moved to its current, more accessible location in New Champhai. This move was officially registered with the government.
Since its inception, MedAIM Hospital has achieved remarkable progress. We have continuously enhanced our services, including providing 24-hour pharmacy and emergency services, and significantly improving our Laboratory & Investigation capabilities. Our diagnostic infrastructure has been bolstered with the acquisition of a CT Scan and an upgrade of our X-ray machine to 500 MA. In 2019, we proudly launched the General Duty Assistant (GDA) Training course, with admissions opening three times a year, further contributing to local healthcare capacity.
Despite initial challenges with government disbursement, we successfully implemented the Mizoram State Health Care Scheme, AB-PMJAY, SBI and Niva Bupa, in 2024, two years after empanelment, ensuring broader access to our services. Our commitment to good governance was further solidified in 2022 with the completion of 12A and 80G registration under the Income Tax Department and CRS registration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India.
Today, MedAIM Hospital is a 30-bed facility, serving with dedication and professionalism, a testament to our enduring mission.
